Canine Influenza Virus ALERT

Up until now, canine influenza has not been a disease commonly seen in Central Texas.  Over the last few weeks there have been many dog’s diagnosed with Canine Influenza.  These dogs presented with coughing and respiratory signs.  Samples taken have confirmed the affecting agent to be Canine Influenza Virus.

With this new wave of positive infections in sick patients, we are now recommending vaccinating your dogs for Canine Influenza Virus.  Initially this is a two injection series given 4 weeks apart, then boostered yearly.
